Kasaragod, June 22: In a shocking incident of student violence, five Plus Two students from Adhur Government Higher Secondary School were apprehended by Adhur Police on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a junior student over a trivial issue — wearing shoes to school.

As per the FIR, the incident occurred on Friday at around 1:30 pm, when Muhammad Ryan (16), a Plus One student, was reportedly verbally abused, pushed to the ground, and had a bench overturned on him by the seniors. Ryan sustained hand injuries during the assault and was rushed for medical care.

The bizarre reason behind the attack, as stated in the complaint, was that Ryan had worn shoes to school, which apparently enraged the senior students.

The accused students have been booked under several serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

•    Section 191(2) – Rioting

•    Section 126(2) – Wrongful restraint

•    Section 296(b) – Obscene acts and songs

•    Section 351(1) – Criminal intimidation

•    Section 115(2) – Voluntarily causing hurt

•    Section 118(2) – Hurt by dangerous weapons

Speaking to media, Adhur SHO Sanjaya Kumar confirmed that the students are being taken to be presented before the court. Meanwhile, the school principal has suspended all the accused students, pending further disciplinary action.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents and educators, highlighting the need for stricter anti-ragging and student conduct regulations in schools.

At least from Class I to III, teach the children about cleanliness, respecting the elders and doing their own needs and not the world history, literature , AI etc. Then only the children will learn the good habits, compassion to others.

Jealousy is very real! And people won't hesitate to show their feelings, especially when the person on the other side is vulnerable!!! Many weak-minded students end their life for so called ragging!!! Authority should take strict action against culprits, so that no other students dare to follow the trend

The discipline is most important in student life. Its the duty of the parents to teach discipline and teachers too have to play their role in this regard. In our younger days though parents were not well educated and cultured they were strict and taught us discipline and on account of this we reap the benefits. Now the parents have become the puppets of their children. Thats why such incidents happen now.
